Many women do not even think about a home birth as an option but some research by the National Childbirth Trust has shown that at least one in five pregnant women would like more information given in a supportive way. We are constantly amazed how empowered women feel after they have birthed their babies at home, with their family, own comforts around them and the wonderful intimate hours together after the midwife has left.

We fully support women who plan to birth at home and we actively promote home birth as it is a safe choice for all low risk pregnant women. The Birthplace study from 2011 can give you more information.

The research showed a very high transfer rate in labour at around 45% yet our own transfer rate is only 28%. Continuity of care by an experienced home birth midwife can make a difference.

We can discuss all your options further at our initial consultation, including individual risk factors.
